Every last Thursday of the month we are posting a new, free instrument, featuring samples from our extensive, cinematic catalog. Ready for number 6?
June ’19 – #6: Bombastic Basses
TFO #6: “Bombastic Basses” features a dark cello/contrabass ensemble playing staccato notes. The string group was recorded exactly as is: seated together on the concert stage, performing the samples with a written octave difference between the cellos and basses.
Pressing harder triggers a full orchestra staccato, recorded with strings, brass, percussion & piano. This layer is perfect for adding accents to the softer cello/contrabass staccato layer. The velocity split point for the two layers can be set using a dedicated control in the interface.
Dedicated Kontakt interface
TFO #6 once again features a dedicated Kontakt interface with a set of useful controls to adjust the envelope, reverb, filter and other elements of the instrument. The Low Synth button adds some additional, cinematic low end to the orchestra, a common method used in film music production. The Free Orchestra does not come with a Kontakt Player license and therefore requires the full version of Kontakt. All Free Orchestra patches have been formatted for Kontakt 5.6.8.
Open sample pool
Bombastic Basses comes with an open 44.1 kHz/24 bit sample pool. This means that you can directly access the wave files and use them on any platform that can handle wave files. Example are Ableton, Cubase, Pro Tools, FL Studio, HALion, Falcon – or your vintage hardware or Eurorack sampler.
- Full version of Kontakt required.
- Please note that while you are more than welcome to use The Free Orchestra in commercial projects, it is not allowed to redistribute or resell these sounds without prior, written permission of ProjectSAM!
